Class room teaching is very interesting and definitely takes best out of you, and as an instructor you have a lot of roles to play... a friend, a guide, an educator, a teacher, a consular etc. I believe that in my class, most of the students are afraid of speaking in front of their teacher, there is some ice between us that needs to be broken. The most important task in my mind is to bring them out of their little wonderland and show them a picture of real world. I believe that hesitation has to end at some point and I am sure that by the end of this class they will be able to free themselves to public speaking, interaction, group discussion etc. I am using some of the common methods with them, and most of them are not liking it in the beginning. But, I am sure that in the long run this will going to pay off. So the bring them out I am using following-
1. Regular discussion in class
2. Asking questions to students
3. Picking up one student randomly and tell him/her to present the content of the last class
4. Technical presentations
5. Non-technical interactions
There is nothing that we have not heard of before, but if the same things applied at the right time with right target group they can give out some great results.
